It´s a pity that the author decided to read this book herself. It`s spoken in a monotone voice, it sounds both whiny and droning to me.
I gave up listening in the first chapter and prefer to read it old-style, when I have the time. I gave the book the benefit of the doubt and so 5 stars. The audio-version deserves only one, imo.

As others have mentioned before, it's a pity this amazing book deserves a better speaker. It sounds very monotonous and a bit rushed at times...
Rebecca Solnit, please keep writing, no offense, but please not voice acting.
