The story unfortunately looses its grip over a ghastly reading performance. Characters get voices that don’t suit them at all and the frequent mispronunciations are hard to overlook. The Brienne & Jaime chapters especially.

Great story and a good experience over all....but this narrator is just bad! The male characters are mostly ok, even though some sound like a bad joke (Davos...🙄🤷‍♂️). Females and children are narrated just terrible....I can't understand why this guy was choosen for this great story!

The story and performance is the best.
The recording however has problems. There are many words that aren't clear. Specially in the beginning of sentences.

The character voices keep shifting and changing, even in mid paragraph, sometimes even in mid sentence; central character voices are at odds with how they were voiced in previous tomes in the series, even though they're read by the same person; the pronunciation of names keeps changing, Brienne for example is "Brayin", "Brianne", "Brain". Shame.

A good book poorly read

the story focuses on too many details and side characters
but the main problem for me is the narrator:
1. he pronounces names of people and places differently between books, chapters and even sentences (seems very badly prepared for the reading)
2. the voices are ridiculous. Every second character sounds like Walder Frey or Old Nan. Completely unconvincing, not fitting at all and honestly just embarassing and bad. It would be much better to just read them in a normal voice but this is just distracting and annoying. It actually made me want to stop many times or made me want to punch him

A narrower Set of characters then the books before but just as thrilling and well written. A deep dive for some characters who did not have their time in the sun yet

präsentiert von einer schwachen Stimme, deren Sprecher diesem genialen Epos leider nicht gerecht wird. Merkwürdige Akzente, kurzatmig und weibliche Figuren klingen, altersunabhängig, wie die ,Alte wie die Walde‘.

Heavily edited to remove gaps and breaths which makes the speech flow extremely unnatural to the point where you can call it an unstructured string of words.
Roy Dotrice has been an excellent narrator throughout the previous parts of the story. This editing practice simply takes the life out of his performance. I cannot fathom how a production of this kind fails to understand the importance of (conscious!) breaks and pauses to the dramaturgy and thereby the emotional impact of a narration.
The already challenging multi-threaded plot style of the story gets even harder to follow.
A game- or more exactly story-breaker for me.
