Die Wa(h)re (?) Geschichte, wie Multimillionär Ross Perot zwei seiner Angestellten aus dem Iran des islamischen Revolutionsbeginns herausholt. Der Anfangs von einer nachvollziehbaren Empörung über die Ungerechtigkeit getragene Plot mutiert im zweiten Teil zu einer Aufzählung von Episoden, in denen sich die Horde rüpelhafter Texaner mit unvorstellbaren Mengen an verfügbarem Geld ohne jegliche eigene Raffinesse aus dem als primitiv dargestellten Iran und der Türkei freikauft. Gewöhnungsbedürftig die Erzähler (teils sehr schnell sprechend), die sich nach nicht nachvollziehbarem Muster plötzlich abwechseln, teils nur für wenige Sätze.Weil's von Ken Follett gewohnt spannend erzählt wird, dennoch 3 Sterne.

the characters are as always with follett pretty Black and white with the good guys "winning" after many struggles and not giving up. I love it.

very good, great cliff hangers, although at times they skip to 5y down the track and I feel like we're missing out on a bit.. but great story

What a great story to follow, with wonderfully mean and beautiful characters. But the audio quality is appalling, compared to today's standards. The narrator is good, but the whole experience is tainted by noise. The better the headphones, the worse.
