This book does so many things right. Beautiful slow burn age gap story which kept me listening for hours.

Torn is definitely not your typical forbidden love romance. Carian Cole takes a morally complicated love story and gives it an incredible amount of psychological depth. What impressed me most was how convincingly she portrayed Tor's inner conflict, his self-doubt, and his struggle to understand when and why a love he'd felt his entire life had turned into something romantic.

The emotional conflicts within the family really got to me, too. Despite the unconventional circumstances, Tor and Kenzi's love felt genuine and believable. Their chemistry was fantastic, and the spice fit naturally into the story without ever overshadowing their emotional connection.

That said, the romantic tension took a little too long to build for my taste. The frequent flashbacks occasionally pulled me out of the story, and the reunion at the end didn't quite deliver the emotional payoff I'd been hoping for.

As for the audiobook, I wasn't a fan of how consistently growly the female narrator made Tor sound, even during his most tender and vulnerable moments. I also read the ebook alongside the audiobook and noticed quite a few missing passages and changes in wording, some of which actually affected the emotional depth of the dialogue.

Overall, this was a beautifully layered, emotionally intense romance that impressed me more with its psychological complexity than with how deeply it swept me away. Not quite a five-star read for me, but definitely a story that gave me a lot to think about.

This very sensitive topic of a man who has been helping to raise his best friend's daughter and eventually falling in love with her, as she did with him, has been dealt with beautifully. The memories thrown in from earlier years show how their relationship changed and evolved without a hint of dirt or impropriety to it. When the two finally fall in love, it is a natural progression in adulthood and their deep love is that of a strong bond that exists between true twin flames. The love, care and sensitivity the author put into writing this story is striking and deserves special praise, too. The only thing I could possibly complain about is that the end seems a little rushed after the author took so much time and dedication to describe the emotional evolution of the characters and their interaction. But the I hope it will be mentioned in the next books of the series some more. Overall, a beautiful story of love told with as much romance as sensitivity. I love it!

Its "realistic" and not creepy, like some Age gap novels tend to be. Thats very cool. I would dev. recommend it, listened to it in one day

Hierbei handelt es sich um ein sehr romantisch-sinnliches Buch, das trotzdem leicht zu lesen (zu hören) ist. Die Entwicklung der einzelnen Charaktere ist gut nachvollziehbar und schlüssig, gleiches gilt für den Handlungsstrang. Allerdings sollte man Romanzen wirklich mögen, aber wenn das der Fall ist kann man sich wirklich auf eine unter die Haut gehende, herzzerreißende, manchmal einfach cool und auch niedliche Geschichte freuen. Dieses Buch hat mich wirklich eingesammelt und mitgenommen, persönlich würde ich es einfach als wunderschön bezeichnen.
