Reader John McAndrew's delivery of English Tudor accents for royalty, cackling laughter of aged crones, and ominous secretive tones for outlaws enhances this delightful retelling of Robin Hood's classic story. In Sherwood Forest, wearing the Lincoln green, Robin Hood emerges as the most famous, compassionate, adventuresome outlaw in history. Arrows twang and thwack into targets, torturers whips pop and whistle, and horses hooves beat with a gallop that adds realism to an already well-told tale. McAndrew's gifted vocal range handles gender changes well and brings Lady Marion, Friar Tuck, and the Sheriff of Nottingham to life, making this a winner for junior listeners.
