Listening to this (the speaker does an excellent job) feels like watching a little boy playing with his gadgets, superhero figures and dynosaurs- everything and everyone is too heroic or too monstrous. The plot is intricate and I’d like to know how the story untangles, but I know I wouldn’t enjoy the time spend with it. Though being perfectly aware that this might be immersive heaven for someone else. Maybe one has to have been grown up with Computer games (like an acquired taste I don’t have) to enjoy this.

As this is part of a video game story it is not finished. I read the wiki story summary afterwards though and it was fine.

Pick up this book with no knowledge of the game. While still well-written you can tell the development team hat no idea where this was going in game one and Sanderson had fun filling in the gaps.
Despite this caveat it's a good book. Lots of characters who had not much motivation got some, the world suddenly makes sense. Very tempted to pick up a let's play for the game.
