Susan Dennard's New York Times bestselling, young adult epic fantasy Witchlands series continues with the story of the Threadwitch Iseult.

War has come to the Witchlands . . . and nothing will be the same again.

Iseult has found her heartsister Safi at last, but their reunion is brief. For Iseult to stay alive, she must flee Cartorra while Safi remains. And though Iseult has plans to save her friend, they will require her to summon magic more dangerous than anything she has ever faced before.

Meanwhile, the Bloodwitch Aeduan is beset by forces he cannot understand. And Vivia—rightful queen of Nubrevna—finds herself without a crown or home.

As villains from legend reawaken across the Witchlands, only the mythical Cahr Awen can stop the gathering war. Iseult could embrace this power and heal the land, but first she must choose on which side of the shadows her destiny will lie. Literatur & Belletristik Science Fiction & Fantasy

As the fourth installment of the Witchland Saga, Witchshadow is rising to new hights of scale, intensity and sheer quality, powerful in its impact and vast in its resonance. A truly magnificent story woven into Dennard's epic fantasy world, done as if a certain weaverwitch had done it herself. I will never forget reading it.

An underrated Gem of a Series

After listening to Bloodwitch as an audiobook last month, I decided to do Witchshadow this month and also as an audiobook. We are following the same characters as the two other previous books, only this time the focus is more on Iseult. Here, too, we are very quickly back in the story and it is moving forward quickly even if the first half of the book I had difficulty understanding what happened right now. Since it started after the events of the 3rd part but we went a bit forward and the things that happened are told in the past. Still it was a bit difficult for me to follow the story but it got better and you could see more. Unfortunately, some questions have arisen here as well, even though many have been resolved that have haunted me since the first book. On the whole it was okay, although I had difficulties following the stories in between, but there were also some good scenes and particularly good developments. I'm really curious how she will let the story end and what awaits us after everything in this part has come to light.
