Handpicked by Rhys Bowen, Jasmine Blackborow is the dazzling narrator for the 12th installment of Rhys Bowen's best-selling Royal Spyness Mystery series.

Georgie, or Lady Georgiana Rannoch, is busy planning her upcoming nuptials to Darcy O'Mara. Unfortunately, what has started as a simple wedding has become quite a royal headache and grand affair, thanks to a guest list that includes the queen and the appointment of princesses as Georgie's bridesmaids. “If only Darcy and I had eloped!” she thinks, as she attempts to organize her wedding and find a place for her and her husband-to-be to live.

Just as she despairs of ever finding a home, her godfather offers his fully staffed country estate. With Darcy off in parts unknown, Georgie makes her way to Eynsleigh alone, only to find the grounds in disarray, and the small staff suspiciously incompetent. Not to mention the gas tap leak in her bedroom, which is beginning to look like an attempt on her life. Something sinister is afoot - and bringing the place up to snuff may put Georgie six feet under before she even gets a chance to walk down the aisle....

This is one of my favourite books of the Royal Spyness series so far. Excellent plot, credible new characters, suspense, atmosphere and romance - and the odd death inbetween.
The new narrator had an unbelievably difficult task to perform and managed it brilliantly. I got used to the new voices very quickly, as Jasmine Blackborow really manages to stay true to the original ones. I don't think Darcy sounds too feminine, either. If anything, Bellinda is a little too whiny for my liking, but maybe that even matches her character.
I don't mind the correct pronunciation of "Rannoch", at all, and I haven't detected any other words that are differently pronounced.

Rest in peace, Katherine Kellgren. We will always love and remember you. But that shouldn't keep us from opening our hearts to the new narrator!

Absolutely delightful!

It is always sad if a beloved narrator dies. Rest in peace Katherine Kellgren!
Of course there are now differences with the new narrator JB, but she really tries to keep the voices recognisable. I think I will get used to her. Only her changed "Ranoch" let me flinch every time (even if it might be correct this way it is still strange to hear)

Give the new Narrator a chance

A very difficult task for the new narrator, but one that she mastered very well. Bravo.

A difficult legacy

Once again, I love the story of this new installment of Rhys Bowen's Royal Spyness novel. The one downside is the new narrator. I'm sad to hear Katherine Kellgren passed away, and filling her shoes as the narrator of this wonderful series was not easy, however, Ms. Blackborow did not quite cut it for me. I never got over the irritation at her putting the emphasis on different syllables of commonly used words (such as Rannoch), how she makes Darcy sound a bit too - almost female in her portrayal of his speech, and Georgie at times sounds awfully like an older lady or at least like someone in her late 30s. Maybe I'll get over it once I've finished the next installment, whenever that will be published, but for now, I am just sad at how this one did not thrill me at much in its narration, especially because I love the characters and the story.

Great story, not a fan of the new narrator

I love the story and the new narrator is doing a good job.
However, the way she pronounces some words make me twitch every single time: drawing room - drawring room and lots of other little mistakes, like various different ways she says „Ranoch House“.
Maybe the narration gets better with a less suppressed voice for some of the figures.

Great story - hope the narrator improves
