What happens when a five-year-old boy decides the world has entirely too many problems and far too few inventions?
You get Dub.
Dub has ideas. Lots of them.
There’s the Big Bead Maker, designed to solve one of his little sister’s most pressing problems. There’s Army Green Nail Polish, because apparently ordinary nail polish has a serious masculinity problem. There are flying machines, wild-west roller coasters, robot refrigerators, dog-changing machines, and enough other inventions to keep the U.S. Patent Office nervous for years.
Most of Dub’s inventions never make it past the sketchbook.
But that doesn’t mean they don’t work.
Because somewhere beneath the scribbled blueprints, impossible contraptions, and wonderfully ridiculous ideas is something surprisingly profound: the heart of a little boy who sees problems differently—and an adoptive father learning to see his little boy differently.
Dub’s Dandy Inventions is a funny, tender, true story about imagination, childhood, fatherhood, and the remarkable things we might discover when we stop dismissing the little rascals in our lives long enough to notice what they’re actually building.
An Eric Ludy’s Short—a small book with a big idea.
