This psychological suspense thriller in the tradition of Silence of the Lambs will have listeners loath to hit the pause button. Bad Karma follows psychopath Agnes Hatcher, institutionalized at Darden State Hospital for the Criminally Insane. When Agnes’ psychiatrist decides to take a vacation, she flies into a jealous rage, escapes from the hospital, and traces the erstwhile shrink - her one true love - to a remote California island. Performer Elizabeth Thompson delivers a roiling portrait of Agnes’ psychotic obsessions. Thompson’s adroit pacing lends authenticity to the unhinged heroine’s twisted mindset, as dour, depressive, psychosexual deliberations are punctured by ferocious flashes of violent mania, propelling this protagonist toward a cruel and captivating climax.
