Intriguing, well read story, but irritating recording loops. If not disturb by that, you might enjoy the audiobook. Story of part one and two continuous somewhat.

Excellently read, but, as so often, the story twists and turns at least one time to many, leaving some of the characters implausible and the listener exhausted. Excellently performed by Dick Hill.

Autopsies indicate that the killer cannot be human. But the museum's directors plan to go ahead with a big bash to celebrate the new exhibition, in spite of the murders. Story becomes vividly alive. Excellent speak, a real treat to listen to. Unfortunately the acoustic quality in the beginnen is quite poor, so I had to remind several times.
I hope the second part is equaly good!

Eventually it gets to ones nerves: Story provides more depression than suspense. And even betrayal and double betrayal can get predictable.

Not badly written, but the promised suspense does't get started...

Exciting story, brilliantly narrated. Maybe our hero is a little bit too cool...I would not continue to do anything if injured by a knife, but people are different ... in fact and fiction. Enjoyable, if not taken too seriously.

Sparhuman personality solves crime related to his family...Twisted minds create murder - Parts of it too absurd to enjoy, still good language, few stereotypes...Less cruelty would not have harmed the thrilling story.I still had a good time listening.

Brilliantly read - although I do not recognize the British accent of Chief Inspector Ganache.
Charakters become vividly alive.
Maybe the story has too many turns and the mystic impact of older houses is too much emphasized - how can we survive in the old world living in even older cities and not everyone getting haunted?
I'll continue listening...

The discovery of a dead body in the woods on Thanksgiving Weekend brings Chief Inspector Armand Gamache and his colleagues from the Surete du Quebec to a small village in the Eastern Townships. Gamache cannot understand why anyone would want to deliberately kill well-loved artist Jane Neal, especially any of the residents of Three Pines - a place so free from crime it doesn't even have its own police force.
