London is special. For centuries, it has been amongst the greatest cities of the world. But a city is nothing without its people. This sparkling new history of London, told through a relay-race of great Londoners shows in one, personality-packed book that the ingenuity, diversity, creativity and enterprise of London are second to none. Boris Johnson believes that in order to understand London one has to know about its past. The heart and spirit of London lies in its people, in the range of its cultures.

Thoroughly engaging history of London - much that I did not know despite living many years there. Boris reads 3 chapters enthusiastically (complete with audible paper-shuffling, which I personally found added amusingly to the personal nature of the book), while Jot Davies does a great job of the other chapters, complete with accents as required. First part is a history of London, second part focuses on particular Londoners - all excellent.

In The Patient Will See You Now, Eric Topol, one of the nation's top physicians, examines what he calls medicine's "Gutenberg moment". Much as the printing press liberated knowledge from the control of an elite class, new technology is poised to democratize medicine. In this new era, patients will control their data and be emancipated from a paternalistic medical regime in which "the doctor knows best."
