Bob Johansson has just sold his software company and is looking forward to a life of leisure. There are places to go, books to read, and movies to watch. So it's a little unfair when he gets himself killed crossing the street. Bob wakes up a century later to find that corpsicles have been declared to be without rights, and he is now the property of the state. He has been uploaded into computer hardware and is slated to be the controlling AI in an interstellar probe looking for habitable planets.

for anyone who is slightly interested in sci-fi. it is written in a entertaining and humorous manner with lots of cheesy references. but the realistic sci-fi approach and the colourful believable characters (Bob's) make it all the better.

will have to re listen to the book but it has the potential to surpass hitchhikers guide as my new favorite book...

When Ivan Pritchard signs on as a newbie aboard the Mad Astra, it's his final, desperate stab at giving his wife and children the life they deserve. He can survive the hazing of his crewmates, and how many times, really, can near-zero g make you vomit? But there's another challenge looming out there, in the farthest reaches of human exploration, that will test every man, woman and AI on the ship - and will force Ivan to confront the very essence of what makes him human.

without going to much into the details this is one of the best hard sci-fi books that I ever read. all the characters act believable and accordingly to their inner motivation. the science is not to frustrating and at least believable. all mixed with an interesting story with enough twists and turns to keep one pinned to the edge of the seat makes this a true recommendation!

Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google are the four most influential companies on the planet. Just about everyone thinks they know how they got there. Just about everyone is wrong. For all that's been written about the Four over the last two decades, no one has captured their power and staggering success as insightfully as Scott Galloway. Instead of buying the myths these companies broadcast, Galloway asks fundamental questions.

it is an interesting overview over the four tech giants that govern our lives and what drives them. what could be a boring book about business and leaders is presented by a congenial team of author and narrator pulling one in and keeping one entertained better than some thrillers I have listened to. and in the best part: it is also educational and helps with personal growth. there is nothing one can want more from a book!

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of The Burning Maze by Rick Riordan, read by Robbie Daymond. I was a god once. Until I was cast out by my father, Zeus. Now I'm an awkward mortal teenager called Lester. My way out? A series of scary and dangerous trials, of course. For my third mission, I must: Journey through the Labyrinth to free an Oracle who speaks only in puzzles. Defeat a vicious and bloodthirsty Roman Emperor - the most vicious of three very vicious and bloodthirsty Roman Emperors. Is that all? No, I've to do everything without any of my godly powers. Wonderful. Looks like I'll be needing all the help I can get. From new friends and old....

The Riordan books are supposed to be children books. but they are the right mixture of surprises and we'll known stuff to keep everyone entertained. They are even educational for classic mythology. I love to listen to them while driving and doing chores.

The book starts out similar to most of the other Dan Brown books. But the story is not with religion at the center. It plays an important part of the story but the juxtaposition with technology makes it feel fresh and easy to read. I especially liked the ending showing the motivation of some characters and their inner conflict. Fantastic is that the central mystery of the book ended on a positive note that I did not see comming as such.
