Random House presents the audiobook edition of Where the Light Gets In by Lucy Dillon. 'You know those cracks in your heart, Lorna, where things didn’t work out, but you picked yourself up and carried on? That’s where the fear gets out. And where the light gets in.' It was Betty, defiant to the end, who sent Lorna back to Longhampton. If Lorna’s learned one thing from Betty, it’s that courage is something you paint on like red lipstick, even when you’re panicking inside. And right now, with the keys to the town’s gallery in her hand, Lorna feels about as courageous as Betty’s anxious little dachshund trembling beside her.

This is a Great story that is well written. I enjoyed how Dillon threw in little teases of information to keep the reader curious. These themes were then eventually expanded on using creatively infused flashbacks. The subject matter was also current and good food for thouğht. The reader does quite a good job of playing all the parts with different accents. This was a book I was sorry to finish.

In November 2014, 13 members of the Biden family gathered on Nantucket for Thanksgiving, a tradition they had been celebrating for the past 40 years; it was the one constant in what had become a hectic, scrutinized, and overscheduled life. The Thanksgiving holiday was a much-needed respite, a time to connect, a time to reflect on what the year had brought, and what the future might hold. But this year felt different from all those that had come before.

A well written expression of the love that Joe Biden has for his family, deepened during the illness and subsequent death of his older son. Such a caring man.
