Paperweight was recommended to me by a friend who struggled with an eating disorder. She said the portraial of ED was uncanny. That the girls had the same habits as she had had in terapie and that drew my interest for sure. This book broke my heart. I've been crying while on the train for almost an hour now.
But I have to say the narriation was sometimes confusing. There were these times where I wasn't completely sure if Stevie was talking in her head of if it was an actual conversation.

Quite unique and very fascinating

There us a different voice for each person. I very much liked that. I have never listened to an audiobook that was so intricately made. Can't wait to listen to the sequel Gemina.

Loved every single second if it!

Several friends who also regularly watch Trevor on Youtube and Netflix have told me to go ahead and read his book.

They were right. He has lived an incredible live and his humor makes it even better. I cried and laughed a lot while listening to him. And of course I too am now urging everyone to pick up his book because I believe it offers something to everyone.

This was the first book with a transwoman I have ever picked up. I listen to this in the bus and train while commuting to work and cried like a baby but I didn't care because this story touched my heart. The southern accent was wonderful as well but since I'm not Southern nor American I can't say for sure if they weren't a little over the top at points.

The authors note at the end was important so please listen to it as well

To me this book was eye opening and empowering. Every woman should at least listen in to some of the topics discussed.

I'm in my mid twenties, have a job I love, a boyfriend of 4 years that I adore and just moved in with and still there was always this angst. 1. That I'd have to give up my career for my future kids like my mom did 2. That the traditional way to raise kids really us the only way to raise healthy, happy, successful children 3. That my selfish need for a career would ultumately cost me my partner.
I cried at least twice because the facts and storries showed me how wrong I was. It is possible to have both family and a career and suceed. I hadn't even realized how ancious I was about my future. How scarred and worried that I'd have to give up on my dreams - and I'm not even planning to have children for the next 7-10 years.
Thank you so much.
