A very nice story by one of my favorite authors. The idea to have a demon with several female personalities work from the head of a young man in a medivial setting was something I have not encountered before, even though several slapstick ideas are inevitable. Still, the story feels fresh and fun. Grover Gardner also gives great life to the disparate characters.

Interesting idea but too bloody for me

The idea of having a doctor for the undead solving crimes in London seems to be inspired by the Peter Grant novels, but is different enough to raise interest. The heroine and her friends are interesting characters, but the villains are so absolutely gruesome and the wounds of all characters are so detailled that I stopped listening. The speaker is good, though.

Identity discusses the changes in modern society including identity politics. As expected, Fukuyama looks at this from a traditionally conservative point of view. However, he delivers his analysis without rancor and in a classical academical manner. I enjoyed the book very much and consider it an essential book if anyone is interested in leading the debate on the political development of the traditional and modern left.
The delivery of the speaker is smooth and easy to listen to.

I made the mistake to buy this lecture without listening in before. While the Content is interesting, the sing-song and extremly over-hyped speaking style of Prof. Harvey killed any interest in listening to it. So I read through the course-material, but stopped listening pretty soon. The first great courses book I completely stopped listening to.

In this series the author informs us on his ideas on the life and origins of Jesus' godhood, keeping strictly to the historical side with clear distinctions to the theological side. I mostly bought this series because of some attacks on the author that I had read, but found this series very well argued.

Among the several series from the Great Courses, this was not only the most challenging, but the most interesting one.
Prof. Greenberg is tremendous fun to listen to, with just the right mixture of humor, extremely bad humor, passion for the subject matter and knowledge. If you are at all interested in understanding "classic" music, this is the course for you!

The series of lectures tries to give an overview about ancient civilisations all over the world, spanning Egypt, Mesoptamia, the Eastern Mediterranian, India, China, South-East Asia, Africa and the Americas. While the lecturer is not all that interested in the Near East, he starts to sparkle with the lesser known areas and especially his pet subject, Africa. While I sometimes found his style a little bit difficult to listen to, it was a good series!
