Pop star Leontyne Blake might sing about love, but she stopped believing in it a long time ago. What women want is her image, not the real her. When her father has a stroke, she flees the spotlight and returns to her tiny Missouri hometown. In her childhood home, she meets small-town nurse Holly Drummond, who isn't impressed by Leo's fame at all. That isn't the only thing that makes Holly different from other women. She's also asexual. For her, dating is a minefield of expectations that she has decided to avoid.

Angela Dawe gave every character their own distinct voice, it was amazing! And the story was not only heart-warming but also quite educating tbh! 10/10 =]

To make it short, it's the story is OK, very predictable, no surprises. The narrator's voice sounds strange, like a muffled sing-sang voice. When it comes to the character Alice, BFF of Siena, her voice is just ridiculously annoying.

My name is Alice Long, and I've always known I was different. When I was little I used to climb up to the highest branches of the housetree at night, and watch the starships docking at the orbital stations high above. Forty meters off the ground, watching ships 30,000 kilometers overhead, with senses that could pick out radar pings and comm chatter as easily as the ships themselves. It all seemed perfectly natural at the time.

It's quite amazing how Mare Travethan can give each character a voice that just fits perfectly! There's meek Naoko (remember the attacking BUSH MONSTER?? =D), there's Alice's "French" android bodyguard Emla, there's rough-and-tough security chief Jim West... Mrs. Travethan just HAS TO return for the sequel!! =)

And for reasons Megan can't quite understand, life starts to look a bit brighter. Megan would love to speak again, and it seems like Jasmine might be the answer.

I honestly can't say that I ever listened to a more beautifully narrated story. Don't be skeptical of how interesting a love story about a mute high school girl can be. it really is surprising. falling-in-love-with-"the-new-girl" stories are plenty out there. but combined with a mute, highly intelligent outside with a dark secret, that she herself doesn't remember the depth of, is quite unique and wholly recommendable. plus the narrator's for suuuch a loveable British accent it's adorable!! :)

when you awake early to listen for another hand hour, when can't wait to get home from work to continue to listen, when you rather listen to an audio book than watching TV while eating dinner, when listening is so captivating you start to cry in a scene or two... you know that you've found a great book that's being narrated by an even better narrator. there aren't too many of there but one of them is Zero Visibility, preformed by Brittany Pressley. Next thing I'll look for more stories read by her. =)

the story itself is not too extraordinary but sweet nonetheless. top shelf material =]

both female readers did an incredible job, sounding both pleasant and convincing. I expected them to give voice to the two main characters. instead, each chapter is from either Kendall's or Pay's point of view, read by one or the other reader. so even after a pause in listening you always know which character's POW it is. Their voices are very distinct and fit each character. Only downside to giving this little review is, I can't give 6 stars! =]
