I was expecting a thriller but it turns out it's lesbian romance. Fine of course, but not my cup of tea.

Excellent book with very original insights.

Sadly read by someone who thinks exaggeration and theatricality is a must. Also it would help to have at least a faint notion of foreign languages so one doesn't stumble over every non-English word.

A Great Mystery

Read -or performed- brilliantly. Intriguing story. Keeps you listening. Very well done indeed, thoroughly recommended.

Weak story, well read

One thing is for sure: I could never have finished this novel in book form. There' s just not enough substance to the plot to make it interesting. Enough for a short story maybe but definitely not for such a long book. As an audio book, it worked because the female part, Laurie, especially is very well performed with a slight smile in most sentences. I thought that was charmingly done. Otherwise it's a mix of Bridget Jones, Love Actually and a lot of teary schmaltz, with a heavy nod towards a future film producer. If you like YA novels, it's the thing for you, otherwise I'd stay clear.

Loved the book - and I just absolutely love the performance of my favourite reader. Can't praise it highly enough. An absolute treat!

Uninteresting.

Pointless. They clearly feel they have to put something out but it's neither enlightening not does it sound as if they were at all bothered.

Good book - but the narration....

I liked the book but had to eventually give up on it which was entirely due to the reader. Whilst ordinary flow text is (just about) alright - ghe reading out of diary entries and letters is simply abominable. Maggie Mash reads it out with the voice of a robber baron, even if the entry is just "The weather was bad". It gets worse when she reads something written by a foreigner: Then she puts on a fake non-existent 'forrin accent' which is cringeworthy and insufferable.

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. In fact I got through it in record time. The plot is superb (despite me guessing right about who did it) and the narration is one of the best I've ever heard. Vivid and memorable, very very impressive. So, yes -I loved everything about this audiobook.

Wonderful.

I love all Barbara Pym novels but this is one is particularly enjoyable, and really comes to life in the wonderful way Patience Tomlinson is reading it. Highly recommended, very good indeed!

I was hooked on "Serial" but I loved this even more - it's easier to relate as a European. Beautifully produced and presented.
