I am listening to Enlish books to improve my lannguage abilties as well as that I like to listen to a pleasant story, so it is about entertainment, not about findinng (maybe boring) masterpieces of literature. This book was quite ok, it dealt, so I think, mainly with the weirdness of human relationships and people dealing with each other in an isolated place. To a certainn part, I listened only superficially. So, this is mainly about people interacting with each other and less about nuclear war or a crime. The murder plays a part, but is not the focus.

Interesting story, with some twists

I liked listening to it (and this is the measure I put on any book). There are twists and turns, a happy and and a hero which is sympathetic. The bad guys get what they deserve at the end.

It seems I don't like Sophie Kinsella so much

I think the book was quite ok, yet, not just my taste. A relatively normal story with some kind of happier ending, good to listen to on my drive to work. Personally, I will go for another author, more Clancy-like.

A Jeffrey Archer as I know, an interesting story with twists and changes, but somehow, I think it was a bit clear from the beginning what it was all about, when you know a bit about history. It was good to train my English as well as a good companion on my daily commute to work.

Quite long, but going into many details

I liked it, but at the end, I thought it was a bit too long. The story covers a wide field of history and everyday life, it is not very much focusing on abstract questions. There are political tendencies which rather go into a non-conservative direction, however, I listened to this book to stay tuned to English as well as to have something to listen to when driving. It suited this purpose well, but I think the next book will be a shorter one.

I liked this - interesting techno-thriller

31 hours is quite long, but I personally liked the book. It goes through several separate action plots, which change. The Russians are of course the bad guys, there are long parts dealing with political implicatons in the Kremlin whereas I found that parts telling of submarine warfare sometimes a bit long. I believe I liked it because I am from a generation who would have been part of the conflict as I served in the German forces at this this and am aware about the power situation at this time. However, Tom Clancy had not many details to deliver about Germany at the time, except that the West German soldiers were tough guys (as the Americans of course ;-):

Ok, but a bit long

The book kind of describes some prepper scenarios and seems to cling to the underlying philosophy. It drags a bit and could have shortened, maybe it is a bit too simple to fill 33 hours.

Sorry, too long, not very surprising

There are some lengths in this story and at some point I wondered whether I should stop listening as it became boring in describing and analyising childish behaviour. There are some twists and turns but the whole book would have been better if it was just shorter.
