Auf welchen Platz würden Sie The Strings of Murder auf Ihrer Hörbuch-Bestenliste setzen?

Hugely enjoyable. The story is engaging, the characters are well-developed and amusing and the murders are horribly gruesome. This Gothic murder mystery is brilliantly performed by Andy Secombe.

Würden Sie dieses Buch einem Freund empfehlen? Warum oder warum nicht?

Pretty good, but not as good as the previous instalments. More intrigue than chemistry in this one, through the story is diverting. Also, Flavia seems to have developed a split personality and is much more of a wuss. Also, no experiments!

Wie hat der Erzähler das Buch beeinflusst?

She's awful. She mispronounces so many words so often and does such a poor "posh" accent that she distracts me from the story. Tip: nobody pronounces Flash as Flarsh, no matter how posh they are, or Laboratory as Labrertry (to rhyme with Lavatory) - really they don't.

Sally Phillips stars as Clare in this sparkling collection of 13 comic episodes. Clare Barker, the social worker with all the politically correct jargon but none of the practical solutions, returns in these 13 episodes, which includes a special installment recorded live at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. As if the upheaval of moving offices and embracing hot-desking weren’t enough for Clare and her colleagues at the Sparrowhawk Family Centre, the threat of redundancies hangs over them.

Peter Grant is learning magic fast. And it’s just as well - he's already had run-ins with the deadly supernatural children of the Thames and a terrifying killer in Soho. Progression in the police force is less easy, especially when you work in a department of two. A department that doesn't even officially exist. A department that if you did describe it to most people would get you laughed at.

I love these books. A brilliant combination of crime, fantasy and humour. The narrator is also amazing: his timing of the funny bits is spot on and his portrayal of the different characters is perfect.

Story is another belter. More angles on Flavia's relatives' spy work. As with all the other audio books in the series, I love the story, but Jayne Entwistle spoils it for me. She doesn't read the character too badly but mispronounces so many words (laboratory is not pronounced in the same way as lavatory, love) that it sets my teeth on edge and takes some effort to ignore.
Get another narrator! Please!

In 2007, the Center for Automation in Nanobiotech (CAN) outlined the hardware and software platform that would one day allow robots smaller than human cells to make medical diagnoses, conduct repairs, and even self-propagate. In the same year, a simple pill, it had been discovered, could wipe out the memory of any traumatic event. At almost the same moment in humanity's broad history, mankind had discovered the means for bringing about its utter downfall - and the ability to forget it ever happened.
