Finding himself alone on a desert island when everything and everyone he knows and loved has been washed away in a huge storm, Mau is the last surviving member of his nation. He's also completely alone - or so he thinks until he finds the ghost girl. She has no toes, wears strange lacy trousers like the grandfather bird, and gives him a stick which can make fire.

At first I was a bit disappointed because the story seemed to be a bit flat and boring. But then when the first people arrived at the boys island it developed to a encrossing story on a unusual round world for a Terry Pratchett novel. Nice to hear and above all, not to long and tiresome.
Regarding Tony Robinson - he is a real good reader.

A BBC radio full-cast dramatisation of the first book in JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy. Brian Sibley's famous 1981 adaptation, starring Ian Holm and Michael Hordern, has been divided into three corresponding parts, with newly recorded beginning and end narration by Ian Holm.

Realy clear spoken but a rather disapointing thing. It's exactly the opposite of unabridged, the makers left the most of the descriptions of the environment and the people away and there are even huge gaps in the story between the part one and two. It ends with the leaving of lothlorien in part one and goes on when frodo was bitten from that nasty spider. The hole part between, is missing. That was the point where i stoped listening. The only reason for giving one star for these audiobooks is, ther's no possibility to give none. So i will give one star now and the remainig if they will ever produce the rest of the story. My advise: keep your fingers off...if you know the story.Kind regards,Willi
