The 21st century. Europe is divided between the First World bourgeoisie, made rich by nanotechnology and the cheap versatile slave labour of genetically engineered Dolls, and the Fourth World of refugees and homeless displaced by war and economic upheaval. In London, Alex Sharkey is trying to make his mark as a designer of psychoactive viruses whilst staying one step ahead of the police and the Triad gangs.

Nice story but the narrator made me fall asleep pretty often. Will try out the written book instead.

Outstanding Story, great reader. I love rather dystopic stories and to read about sociological questions of the future. Stephenson delivers on both ends. You should not miss this one!

It isn’t easy to get a group of bestselling SF authors to write new stories for an anthology, but that’s what Elizabeth Anne Hull has done in this powerhouse book. With original, captivating tales by Greg Bear, Gregory Benford, Ben Bova, David Brin, Cory Doctorow, Neil Gaiman, Joe Haldeman, Harry Harrison, Larry Niven, Vernor Vinge, Gene Wolfe, and others, Gateways is a SF event that will be a must-buy for SF readers of all tastes, from the traditional to the cutting edge; from the darkly serious to the laugh-out-loud funny.

As to be expected not all stories are equally strong but all in all it's interesting and diverse enough to be worth it's time. Personally I could have done quite good without the eulogies about Mr. Pohl.

The spectacular debut novel nominated for every major science fiction award in 2014, Ancillary Justice is the story of a warship trapped in a human body and her search for revenge. Winner of the Arthur C. Clarke Award, the Nebula Award, the British Science Fiction Association Award, a James Tiptree Jr. honour and a Kitschie. Currently shortlisted for the Hugo Awards. They made me kill thousands, but I only have one target now.

Interesting story with unusual protagonist. Social standing and interaction form the backbone of this book.

The times and species have been changing at a rapid rate, and the social compact is wearing as thin as environmental stability. Adam One, the kindly leader of the God's Gardeners - a religion devoted to the melding of science and religion, as well as the preservation of all plant and animal life - has long predicted a natural disaster that will alter Earth as we know it. Now it has occurred, obliterating most human life.

This is one of the few books that make you feel bad when they are over - because they are over too soon, regardless how long they are. Atwood writes about a sad and scary future in a lighthearted, and sometimes outright funny style. I liked the narrators too, they caught the feeling of the book just fine. The only downside are the sometimes quite silly songs, but the rest is just too good to make it less than five stars!

Football has come to the ancient city of Ankh-Morpork - not the old fashioned, grubby pushing and shoving, but the new, fast football with pointy hats for goalposts and balls that go gloing when you drop them. And now, the wizards of Unseen University must win a football match, without using magic, so they're in the mood for trying everything else.

clearly i had two problems with this audiobook, first i'm not a football fan, second i'm not native english speaking and as that had some problems with the dialect which seems to come with english football fans. the story in itself is nice and there is enough discworld humor and the usual suspects, but all in all it's one of the weaker novels in my bookkeeping. as a discworld novel i think it's average stuff. still i would buy it again as i am a fan of terry pratchett indeed.

this listening experience was just great. usually i only listen to audiobooks on my way to work, but with this gem i found myself listening at home as well. in the beginning the story was a bit slow but this was soon over. i can't wait to hear more from this author and the speaker wasn't bad also. now i'm wondering wether to wait for another audiobook by this author or to buy the books themselves. truly rewarding experience for me, thus 5 stars :-)
speed up audible, I'd like to hear more of Paolo Bacigalupi!
