À propos de ce titre
A Stunning Novel of Hope and Redemption

Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of the monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable and beautifully told story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Raised in the same household and sharing the same wet nurse, Amir and Hassan grow up in different worlds: Amir is the son of a prominent and wealthy man, while Hassan, the son of Amir's father's servant, is a Hazara -- a shunned ethnic minority. Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them. When Amir and his father flee the country for a new life in California, Amir thinks that he has escaped his past. And yet he cannot leave the memory of Hassan behind him.

The Kite Runner is a novel about friendship and betrayal, and about the price of loyalty. It is about the bonds between fathers and sons, and the power of fathers over sons -- their love, their sacrifices, and their lies. Written against a backdrop of history that has not been told in fiction before, The Kite Runner describes the rich culture and beauty of a land in the process of being destroyed. But through the devastation, Khaled Hosseini offers hope: through the novel's faith in the power of reading and storytelling, and in the possibilities he shows us for redemption.©2003 Khaled Hosseini; (P)2003 Simon & Schuster Inc. Human character, Afghan culture as well as historic developments are wrapped in a fascinating story. The horrors of what has been happening in Afghanistan may make you want to run away at times, but the spellbinding narrative does not let you go until the last word has been spoken.

Fascinating until the last minute

Brilliantly written and read. The reader/writer created very detailed, beautiful scenery, and clearly linked throughout time and across generations. Warning: there are graphic scenes described in a couple of places. If you have a weak stomach, you might want to skip them.

Tear inducing story

This audio book is expertly read by the author himself which made it even more authentic for me. The story is touching, warm and sad at the same time. I found it interesting because apart from the great story line, it provided me with a lot of insight about life and growing up in Afghanistan. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Kiterunner!

Khaleed, he is the most gifted story teller. Loved it. After separating I was thinking how will Hasan and Emir react after meeting when they were grown up. But it never happened and this fact always haunted me.

Most shaking story I have ever heard.
