À propos de ce titre

While the Harry Potter series may follow the journey of the Boy Who Lived, if you want to know the whole story, keep your eyes fixed on Severus Snape. This greasy-haired, grumpy genius, one of J. K. Rowling's most enduring gifts to English literature, is the archetypal ill-tempered teacher: demanding, acerbic, and impossible to ignore. Over the span of seven novels, Snape's remarkable role in the series can be hard to parse: Where do his true allegiances lie? Can a former Death Eater change his spots? Why does he seem to loathe the boy he's pledged to protect?

Taking an analytical approach to Hogwarts's irascible, protective Potions professor, author Lorrie Kim presents a closer look at how Dumbledore's double agent operates behind the scenes throughout the Harry Potter series. By examining the story from Snape's point of view, this in-depth exploration pierces the defenses of the wizarding world's famed Occlumens, revealing the man for who he truly is: one of pop culture's most memorable heroes.

Negative:
- A little too much talk/quotes about other characters and scenes that don't have much to do with Snape. Many things in each (long) chapter are not about Snape and not even news for the HP community.
- Quite many (more or less) far-fetched "maybes" about Snape.
- The author is using parts of the HP series (Snape dressed as Neville's Grandma etc.) as a political instrument to have a rant against Rowling and show support to the transgender-hype/agenda going on at the moment. It should be a book with additional information and analysis about Snape, not about a person's political opinon on things that have nothing to do with the HP series.

Positive:
Some ideas about Snape are good and I like the way the audiobook is read.

A little dissapointing

the close reading and the many insights it gave, the entertaining performance, the clever deductions

While, similarly to another listener, I did not discover too many new facts about Severus, I like the clear structure of this book and that I can find all the facts about this one character in one place.

I don’t agree with much of how Severus is read - Alan Rickman’s voice still lingers and it would have added some rizz to have used his voice for the quotes.

All in one place

Sadly the book has nothing new to say. Sometimes it felt as if the author has only seen the movies or didn't really understand the books while reading. Can't recommend it at all

Nothing new, nothing "analysed"
