À propos de ce titre
Nine hundred thousand years ago, something annihilated the Amarantin civilization just as it was on the verge of discovering space flight. Now one scientist, Dan Sylveste, will stop at nothing to solve the Amarantin riddle before ancient history repeats itself.

With no other resources at his disposal, Sylveste forges a dangerous alliance with the cyborg crew of the starship Nostalgia for Infinity. But as he closes in on the secret, a killer closes in on him because the Amarantin were destroyed for a reason. And if that reason is uncovered, the universe - and reality itself - could be irrevocably altered.

The story is no doubt great SciFi. But the narrator/producer doesnt care about the listener. Often senteces start so loud and end so quiet that one half is impossible to make out. There is no relevant pause between changes if scenes/paragraphes, You only realise that the scene is on a different planet two sentences into a paragraph when a name is mentioned that you heard before. I stop listening and will read the actual book.

Great story, miserable performance

Interesting settings, a bit morbid. Personalities are somewhat undeveloped. This and the fact that the narrator has a funny voice that is either loud or sounding far away at the end of the sentence made me return the book.

Great inaugural novel by Alastair Reynolds. Slow build up with satisfying pay-off. Alastair is a master at world building, and enriches his stories with mystery, humor, exciting plot twists and, most of all, hope. The narrator is also great, filling the story and characters with life and, well, character. Definitely recommended.

Top notch hard scifi

The book is one of the best I've read/heard for a while in terms of originality and depth of storyline; always keeping you going, gradually revealing the intricate plot layers. Great interwoven ideas of physics, artifical intelligence and space opera with Fermi Paradox. Enjoyed it all the way.

Amazing creativity
