À propos de ce titre

New entry in the best-selling Monster Hunter International series by Dragon Award-winning authors Larry Correia and Sarah A. Hoyt

When Owen Pitt and the rest of the Monster Hunter International crew are called away to mount a month’s-long rescue mission in a monster-infested nightmare dimension, Julie Shackleford - Owen’s wife and descendant of MHI founder Bubba Shackleford - is left behind. Her task: hold down the fort and take care of her new baby son Ray. Julie’s devoted to the little guy, but the slow pace of office work and maternity leave are starting to get to her. But when a routine field call brings her face-to-face with an unspeakable evil calling itself Brother Death, she’ll get more excitement than she ever hoped for.

Julie is the Guardian of a powerful ancient artifact known as the Kamaresh Yar, and Brother Death wants it. In the wrong hands, it could destroy reality as we know it. Julie would die before giving it up.

Then Ray goes missing, taken by Brother Death. The price for his safe return: the Kamaresh Yar. If Julie doesn’t hand over the artifact it means death - or worse - for baby Ray. With no other choice left to her, Julie agrees to Brother Death’s demands. But when you’re dealing with an ancient evil, the devil is in the details.

To reclaim her son, Julie Shackleford will have to fight her way through necromantic death cults, child-stealing monsters, and worse. And she’ll have to do it all before Brother Death can unleash the Kamaresh Yar.

It’s one woman against an army of monsters. But Julie Shackleford is no ordinary woman - she’s one tough mother!

Tolle Story, nervende Sprecherin

I won't repeat all the stuff being said about the narrators bad performance, but as a German living 20 minutes from cologne I have to say I was really annoyed by the wildly inaccurate description of Germany and cologne especially. First off she said "Kern", while it's "Köln". And then there's the typical "lederhosen and Brezeln" bullsh*t. That is so incredibly stereotypical and badly researched..
That whole lederhosen stuff is a Bavarian tradition and nobody (except for some wierd festivals) wore that stuff in public for the last 300 years.
It's like a story taking place in Los Angeles and the author describing everyone as cowboys riding horses and screaming yeehaw, because that's the only thing he/she knows about the USA.
As I said.. Annoying and easily avoidable.

Not the best part of the series

The reader sounds whiney all the time it really gets annoying. Also the co author was not a good choice. The whole time july was being whiney and not the same character we are used from the other books. The plot is alright but the book is far from the other ones. I even cought myselfe waiting for it to be over so i could move on to other books. Very unfortunate as i really like the series.

Worst if the series for sure

I will try to write this in English.
I liked the fact in the beginning really much that it was a female speaker. But when I listened more and more hours of her telling the story, it became hard for me to focus on her different voices she tried to use, to give each character its own voice. But further it went, they all seemed very similar to me unfortunately. What made it hard for me to follow the plot without getting irritated.
Besides this it's still a pretty good story and I really loved the plot and getting to know July a little bit more.

Pretty nice
