Eine entführte Frau, gefangen gehalten in einer Kiste, sexuell missbraucht, jahrelang. Das gab’s schon x mal. Auch Geschichten, die die psychischen Schäden des Opfers nach seiner Befreiung thematisieren gibt es haufenweise. Lisa Gardeners Focus erfasst beides, die Zeit, in der die Identität der Gefangenen zerbricht und die Hölle danach, als nichts mehr so ist, wie es war. Das tut sie scharfsichtig und sensibel. Aber das ist mehr die Vorgeschichte, auch, wenn sie sorgfältig ausgearbeitet ist. Der wirkliche Plot der Story bringt eine überraschende Entwicklung, außergewöhnlich, aber glaubwürdig und nachvollziehbar. Ich schätze Lisa Gardeners Bücher, habe sie alle gehört, und dieses hier ist meiner Ansicht nach das Beste von allen. Es ist super spannend, gut geschrieben und originell. Absolut empfehlenswert, auch für sehr anspruchsvolle Leser.
