À propos de ce titre

The Kingdom of Alanya is home to mystic warriors and mischievous djinns, vulgar poets and vain philosophers, soaring simurghs and scheming shahs.

Little do the people know that a power struggle between an ancient sorceress and an upstart sultana threatens to bathe the sands in bile and bones. A bloody cauldron boils, and primeval gods laugh while they stir it.

As warhorses charge, arrows shower, and cannon shots brighten the night, all must choose a side.

Conqueror's Blood understands well what it means to be a sequel - it expands on its setting, filling readers in on its multilayered and culturally rich Arabian fantasy world. It also delves deeper into the eldritch magic and mythology that makes Gunmetal Gods as a series stand out.

The only aspect where this book falls a bit short of its predecessor is in the department of story. While Conqueror's Blood has a good cast of characters, both new and returning, there are moments where the plot feels slow while it should be going fast. Sometimes, tension between characters is being built by having characters not talk to another, not managing to convey something just once or twice too many, which can be a bit frustrating. That being said, the story escalates quite nicely, and has a good conclusion.

A great sequel to an amazing first entry
