Dr Harriet Over
Raising Man Kind helps parents understand what the manosphere is, why it appeals to boys and young men, and, most importantly, how to protect their children from its influence.
Combining the authority of an academic with the empathy of a fellow parent, Harriet takes readers inside the online ecosystem where harmful ideas about gender spread. She explains what parents need to know, how to talk to their children about it, and how to help them think critically and kindly about what they see online.
Structured around three key goals — Explain, Encourage, Equip — the book blends accessible science with practical interventions. Each chapter ends with 'Things to Try at Home': actionable conversation prompts, questions to consider, and empathy-building exercises which, with my parent hat on for a moment, are the most helpful parts of the book. I’ve read so much good theory on parenting, but it is the putting it into practice that is hard.
This is a book with a simple but powerful message: we can’t stop our children seeing toxic content, but we can change how they respond to it.
