The United States is in ruins. It has just suffered one of the worst hurricanes in history; the people are demoralized, and the president is a religious fanatic. Then things get really bad - the Clickers return.

Die Geschichte selber ist eine zum größten Teil gelungene Fortsetzung des ersten Teils der Reihe. Mir gefällt die Idee, dass diesmal einige der Nebenfiguren des ersten Teils zu den Hauptfiguren werden und die Hauptfiguren des ersten Teils nur Nebenrollen spielen. Die Geschichte hat ein hohes Tempo und Blut und Gore sind nicht zu knapp.
Mit dem hohen Tempo des Buches habe ich aber auch meine Probleme. Bei knapp unter 300 Seiten oder weniger als 10 Stunden für das Hörbuch kommt es zu Charakterentwicklungen oder Plottwists wie aus heiterem Himmel. Mir fehlen Hintergrundinformationen und der Aufbau von Ereignissketten, die erklären, wie es zu einer bestimmten Situation kommen konnte oder die erklären, wie jemand bestimmte Informationen erlangen konnte.
Wie auch immer, ich bin trotzdem schon auf den dritten Teil gespannt.
