David E. Stevens

A Navy Commander and nuclear-weapons-trained fighter pilot, Dave served as the Strike Operations Officer for the Persian Gulf during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. He went on to lead classified defense programs and test-pilot new F-18s. He's been 10 miles above the earth, 600 feet below the Atlantic, visited over 30 countries and ... survived hundreds of his OWN aircraft carrier landings. Dave holds engineering degrees from Cornell and the University of Michigan with post graduate work in astrophysics, human factors and statistics.

After a close friend was killed on a night low-altitude mission, Dave discovered that 60% of all tactical jet fatalities are pilots literally flying into the ground. He shifted his career to the flight test side of the Navy. Working with the Naval Aerospace Medical Research Laboratory, he developed an Artificial Horizon Altitude Warning System designed to “scare” pilots into reacting when they fly too close to the ground. It received a government patent and was ranked #1 for DARPA funding. Dave realized pilots aren’t the only ones at risk of “hitting the ground.” Humanity is pretty good at ignoring global disasters.

After a 20-year Navy career, that consisted largely of planning and executing disasters, he studied the most likely global cataclysms. Recruiting an advisory board of renowned experts: astronauts, astrophysicists, meteorologist, admiral, CIA agent, AI expert and special forces, he created the Fuzed Trilogy. A fictional series, it highlights the top global threats but also proposes real solutions and is being developed into a TV mini-series. He also did the the TED talk, “How Do We Prevent Our Inevitable Extinction."

His most recent book is “Disaster Prepping for Dummies.” Using special forces and survival experts, he consolidated proven survival strategies with the latest technology to create simple, practical, disaster preparation steps that work regardless of an individual’s resources or location.
