I love almost every single book from Mrs Singh...and I was a Little afraid about this one...because it's "normal". I mean no Fantasy or urban Fantasy or paranormal Story. No, this one is a contemporary love-story *sigh* with blue-eye Sailor *melting down* and Ísa...in normal life you don't see so many goodlooking guys but it's a nice distraction and their characters are very believable. I enjoyed it fully and I'm curious about Ísas best friend Story with Raj....I loved it and you'll love it too...If you can buy also the audiobook, it's very good
Such a wonderful romance. Ísa and Sailor are a fantastic couple, just the kind of strong, intelligent - sexy - characters Nalini Singh would write. I've read all of her books, and this is a great addition to her contemporary romances. Now I'm eagerly awaiting the next one, which should be here any day.
Oh the final HEA this time was so good 😍 I loved it I loved it I loved it. For everybody who think they are working and doing everything the world throws at them! This book should have been dedicated to you. In all the characters you will find a piece of you. A shout out to Nalini Singh we want to read Nayna and Raj's story too!

SERIES: Hard Play #1 ROMANCE: Dramatic but Sweet
OVERALL THOUGHTS I really struggled with the rating for this one because I am a long time fan of Nalini Singh's books, but in the end I had to go with 3 stars. There was so much of this that felt like a Harlequin series novel, which I loved once upon a time, but now I want a bit more grit and realism in my contemporary romances. That is of course, all on me. I did love Sailor's character and the Bishop/Esera family was a lot of fun to read about. Ísa has some issues but overall she was a sweet heroine who was innocent in some ways but fiesty in others.
THE CONFLICT Making his landscaping business a success has been all Sailor has wanted for years. His focus and determination has landed him a job for the popular Crafty Corners company but it also means he really has to prove himself and work day and night to finish on time. Growing up in the shadow of her parent's business ambitions has left Ísa with insecurities about her worth. Taking care of her step-siblings is also why she caves to her mother's pressure so often even when it's completely against her own desires.
WHAT WORKED FOR ME -- Sailor was pretty much the perfect hero -- sweet, sexy, devoted, and willing to make sacrifices. He's seen a relationship be destroyed by someone who doesn't care and he's determined to never make that mistake. When he meets Ísa he immediately knows what he wants and he's not afraid to go after it, full steam. He also listens to and respects Ísa's insecurities and does his best to prove that he will live up to her standards.
-- I always appreciate Nalini Singh's heroines who are sweet and gentle but also strong. She does a really good job of writing innocent heroines who aren't complete naive doormats. Ísa isn't overly experienced and she's very shy but she also pushes through when she finds something she really wants. Her loyalty and dedication to her step-siblings is also commendable.
-- The side characters were all really great and I enjoyed seeing the rest of the Bishop/Esera clan again. I loved them in Rock Hard so it was wonderful to see everyone again. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a story between Catie and Danny once they've grown up a bit more.
WHAT DIDN’T WORK FOR ME -- There was a far bit of repetitive language in this book that got annoying after a while. For instance, Ísa refers to Sailor and his eyes as "demon" or "blue-eyed demon" 25 times which doesn't seem like a lot but it was often clumped together with it being said 2-3 times in just a few pages. Sailor also constantly thinks about his need to make his business a success and Ísa spends the entire time agonizing about when the relationship will come crashing down.
-- Some of the thoughts and situations were a bit overly dramatic. The way Ísa and Sailor meet (as adults) is a bit ridiculous and in no way realistic, which granted is not always a bad thing, but it just compounded the larger issue. Then the worry that Ísa has over being first in Sailor's thoughts was a bit overdone. She obsesses and worries over it the entire book without ever having a meaningful conversation about it and then it just resolves itself because Sailor is the perfect hero.

Nalini Singh is a fantastic writer and she can make every character come to life in such a way I wouldn't be surprised if I met them on the street. She hasn't lost that gift in Cherish Hard. But this book just isn't one of her best.
Isa and Sailor meet, are instantly attracted, fall in love, face obstacles, over come them and live happily ever after. But compared to the obstacles many of her other characters have faced these are, quite frankly, easily overcome. Isa is a 'poor little rich girl' with two parents that are so involved in their work they neither know nor care what her needs are. But this hasn't embittered Isa, made her fear love or anything that Sailor would have to work hard to break down. Isa knows how to love, is a fantastic sibling to her half/step siblings and wants nothing more than a man who puts her first.
Sailor is the younger child of a man who left his wife and kids to go chase a futile dream of an easy fortune. He's afraid of not being good enough and he puts his business ahead of his personal life--sort of. Except Sailor's mom married great a second time and Sailor knows how to love. And even when he's putting his business first he finds time for Isa and Isa's family.
On Nalini's webpage is advice to writers. It says that you have to figure out what five things the characters fear most, and make them face it. She tried to do that here, but Isa's fears aren't terribly deep and Sailor's compulsion to prove himself is well tempered by his good upbringing and boisterous family. So what you really have is a normal couple figuring out how to balance their needs as a couple with the demands of work, family and friends. It's something we've all had to deal with, and the couple grows together beautifully, but it doesn't make for a riveting story.

Cherish Hard by Nalini Singh is a beautiful, light hearted and romantic contemporary read. If you have read Rock Hard, then you will have working knowledge of the Bishop clan. If you haven't yet discovered them yet, you are in for a delicious treat. This is Sailor Bishop’s story and what a story it is. This is the prequel to Gabriel Bishop’s story where we get to see Sailor and Isa’s love story. This is a standalone not tied to Gabriel’s story for this takes place a few years before Gabe’s story but is more insight to the Bishop clan. He isn’t the brawn his older brother is but he is just as hot as his brother is and he is one determined gardener. He is quiet and he is zen like. Sailor knows what he wants out of life; But what will he do when he finally catches up with the girl of his dreams? Sailor and Isa met briefly at a college party several years before and that brief time that they met left a lasting impression on Sailor. Before he could get further information on Isa, she was gone and he was left imprinted on his head and heart. Sailor couldn't forget her beauty, now years later Isa is back in his life and Sailor is determined to make sure she doesn’t run away again for Sailor is determined to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Isa is the glue that keeps her family together. She has this sort of crazy family she is responsible for-she takes care of her sister and brother because her mother is too busy working- hence careers and ambition. Isa just wishes her mom would wise up and learn to put her kids first but doesn’t think she ever will. So Isa realizes she needs a man in her life that is willing to accept her siblings and wants to settle down with her dreams as his dreams. But she finds herself attracted to sexy Sailor more and more. She finds she is spending more time with him when she is conflicted over what she feels for him. Isa sees him going so much farther than her, being bigger than her humble self and she wonders how soon he will leave her. I loved how Sailor was so patient and kind , loving and sweet toward Isa when he showed her all he cared about was her. I could feel the heat and the passion between them. I will admit there was a couple times I wanted to scream but it was at certain characters . This story has such life in it. Yes it’s a romance but it has such great supporting cast of characters that keep you reading, keep you rooting for the main characters and then also wanting to see books for supporting cast of characters. This was such a fantastic and rich look at the Bishop Clan, at Sailor and his Isa. I really love how Ms. Singh can weave rich stories for each book she writes are fresh and exciting, just as this book feels. I cannot wait to read the next book from her.
My Rating: 4.9 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
