When I first read about Mandy, as most I suppose, was through AGT. I had not seen a full season of the show before but Mandy's voice commanded attention. The more I read about her and watched her videos I realized that her beautiful voice and masterful writing were the least of her gifts, as amazing as those gifts are. Her ability to overcome the darkness that depression is and find the courage to still accomplish her dream are her most astonishing gifts.
This book is a perfect companion to the visual and auditory history she's shared with us already; it is a window into the process she courageously overtook to not give up on her musical dream. She elegantly reveals some of her most painful experiences as well as inject witty humor to show us a better path through our own hardships. She chooses to hold our hands and guide us, through her own experiences, a different way to deal and understand our own shortcomings and, as she points out, help us make sense of our own rhythm.
I will forever be grateful to Mandy for not only fighting her own fears to battle through the obstacles that life put in front of her, but mainly, for her choice to share her story with us. We cannot say that things are impossible any more, thanks to Mandy, we cannot allow our own fears and obstacles to stop us, since Mandy had the courage to show us that it is truly possible to reach our dreams. Her beautiful voice is a reminder, to me, that any dream or goal I can imagine can truly become reality. Thank you Mandy, for your courage, your strength and for choosing to share both with all of us.
And in case I didn't make it clear before, I highly recommend this book :).
