Wow! Break my heart and leave me with a sobbing grin!
This book is so beautiful and fun. I couldn't stop thinking about it and didn't want it to end but I couldn't stop reading for long either. The writing is perfect and completely immersive and though the whole idea isn't unique it's written in such a way that it's not like any other story about similar situations.
I really loved the characters and a lot of Duke's "mistakes" in his relationships made me realize what I could do to be an easier to understand person and I really liked that despite the fact that he is wealthy he's not pretentious and he clearly has a good heart. I liked Cora a lot too. I liked how spikey she is but it's obviously to protect her heart.
And Jaime...what can I even say....😭

I really did enjoy this book but I was a bit surprised at how the parents and adults viewed these young people who are hooking up ( meaning sex) and no one says anything about maybe waiting until they were a bit older and had some understanding of what a sexual relationship can entail but it is a very minor part of the story. The story is quite lovely and sweet. It is a good nod to understanding what is truly important in our lives. A nice message to your people and us oldies too. Beautifully written and flowing from one idea to another. Highly recommend it to youing adults and parents alike.

This young adult book caught me by storm. There were a few underlying messages which continue to give me pause even a month after I finished the book. I think about how people are brought into our lives and what role they will play. Sometimes it's to change our perspective. Maybe it's because they will unknowingly help you bring your self-awareness into greater focus. The best scenario is when it is symbiotic and reciprocal. So what does this diatribe have to do with the review? It's the most succinct explanation I can give of this book.

The interwoven tale of Duke, Cora, and Jaime is magical. Is there pain, emotion, and the potential for tears? Yes, yes there is. However, the path these three journey together is nothing short of amazing. What paints this story with a beautiful brush is the rawness and honesty of what they must face. You run the gamut of emotions with each of them as they individually and collectively process the curveballs and pitfalls of life.

There is an inevitableness to this tale, even as you hope for the happy movie ending. Despite this, you will find yourself ferreting out the happiness and positivity of the story. Because it's there. The joy Jamie has for life and the love for his sister, the selflessness Duke discovers within, and Cora's return from hiding are poignant lessons and reminders of what we can do and find within our respective lives.

This read was a "cover looks good" selection. Man...what a lucky find. This book is phenomenal. Read it and find out for yourself!

This book reminded me of good old fashion story telling at its best. I enjoyed each character and the way they grew and developed through out the story, especially Chameleon. I loved the ending even though it was a tear jerker. It was uplifting in the way Ghost boy(Jaime) lived on through his story and in the love that developed between Duke and Cora(Chameleon). The Duke of Graffiti (Duke) reminds me of a modern day hero who is not afraid to take chances and has a generous loving heart. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good story!
