I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the writing in this book was very sophomoric, which leads me to believe that possibly this is written for a young audience? I did learn about Alexander and his times, but it was like reading a school book. I recommend the book for basic background, but don't look for it to be anything more than that.
This is not an in depth look at the life of Alexander. It is a Cliff notes version at best. I understand that much of the events described happened before a cohesive written history, however; there are spelling and grammatical errors galore and the fall of the Macedonian Empire is less than fully explored.
Awful. Ill-written, badly copy-edited and as shallow a a petri dish. I made it through one chapter, then skimmed the rest of the book to see if it got any better. It didn't. I believe reading it actually left me know less about Alexander than I did before.
