Alright, let's face it. The cover didn't exactly wow me but I didn't buy this book for its cover. I suspected to be mesmerized by Stiefvater's language and to finally see Cole and Isabel have their happy ending. And I got all that so see me satisfied!
Isabel was a very hard character to like. She's so ignorant toward other people's feelings. She doesn't seem to care and she's so devastatingly pessimistic. I loved her eccentric cousin who was so shy but still very loyal to her. And I'm always for people who can bake to perfection. Heck, who wouldn't love them? Isabel has worked hard to have a satisfying life but when looked at closely she's not living at all. Until she meets Cole again.
Cole, as the once famous frontman of Narcotica, has agreed to be part of a reality TV show. But I think he's just looking for a way to live with and from his music again. He's a very extroverted person and I just love the way his mind works, his creativity that always needs an outlet, but also how he cares for Isabel.
There were a few moments where I truly hated Isabel for being so ignorant and how little she supported him. And one certainly has to admire Cole for his persistance. But *sigh* he's in loce and I guess I can't convince him to take me instead, so she'll have to do.
Sinner doesn't focus on the werewolf curse that Cole has to live with. Somehow, he seems to have this pretty much under control. It's more about finding a way back into life, for him and for Isabel. Together, in Mercy Falls, they have experienced deep loss, and they need to cope with their grief and look forward.
The audiobook was brilliantly performed, as usually. I'd already enjoyed Emma Galvin and Dan Bittner so much in Forever. They really got in their role, Emma gave a perfect ice queen and Dan got across half-crazy but oh so loveable rock star. I believed every word from their mouths. Gifted performers like them are the reason that I listen to audiobooks every day.
I'm excited to see what Maggie's next project will be but no matter what, she's on my auto-buy list and I will either read or listen to every word this woman writes!
