I received a complimentary copy of The Crawling Skin by Adam Strong and was asked to provide an honest review. This aptly named audio short story was not for the faint of heart or sensitive of stomach! If you enjoy horror stories and macabre tales, this narration is a must buy. The highly original story line was written from the perspective of the unfortunate skin of a foul, scabrous, disgusting sex addict. After being abused for so long, the skin has finally had enough and attempts to remove itself from the offending body it protects. The author’s extremely lurid descriptions of the mistreatment of his body, including the pitiable skin, were so vivid that the reader cheers for the covering’s attempted emancipation. This story was very original, and I highly recommend it for anyone who likes the horror genre. The narrator’s voice was also perfect for the part of the skin, able to convey its long-suffering nature through his tone of voice. This story gets 10 goose-bumps from me!

This tale has the perfect balance of bodily and gruesome horror and hilarious, ironic twisted humor. It's incredible how the author can make you actually care about an empty piece of flesh, with its first-person point of view narration. The author has no mercy on his descriptions during the most disgusting scenes but the sentient skin comes across as a very likeable character with its sense of humor. It's a great improvement from the author's previous tale, Fly, in all aspects. I can't wait to see what creepy tale the author comes up with next.
