2,0 von 5 SternenIs This Fanfiction? A Spinoff? What?

This book felt much more like it was in the middle of the series than the first. It started after a bunch of important events had already taken place, answered almost nothing, and assumed I should already know what was going on.

What is this prophecy they keep going on about? Never explained.
Who is this "dragon" and is he REALLY a dragon or was it just an honorific? Never explained.
Why do they have to bond? What does it do besides make them a happy couple like love-struck teenagers? Never explained.
What is this "fixing" that one of the sisters did? What was broken? How? Never explained.

I have a list of things a mile long, like who or what is Council? What do they do? Who or what is the division? Why are they divided? What did they hope to accomplish? SO many things were left unexplained or didn't make sense.

The action scenes were nice enough but I wish more of it had made more sense rather than feeling like rushed fanfiction of some other previously established cannon that I'm not aware of. I have no interest in any of the other books even if these issues are addressed later. They should have been addressed in book one so I could understand what was going on.
I will not be recommending this book to anyone.

3,0 von 5 Sternenwith a good meaty story line

When I read the synopsis, I was really excited that this was currently a free e-book on Amazon (it is still free today 6/4/17). It sounded exciting, full of action, with a good meaty story line. Well, it fell short of my expectations. First of all, it does have a meaty story line that is full of action. But, I spent about a third of the story confused about what was going on and why. Why? Well, Miss Wright jumped right into the action. That in itself isn't always bad. But in this instance, it wasn't a great thing to do. There is no explanations about why things are happening. I honestly stopped at chapter three and scrolled back to the title page to see if I missed any of the story. I didn't.
I started reading the book almost a week after downloading it. I couldn't remember what the synopsis said, but I remembered it sounded exciting to me. At about the 4th chapter, I had to go back and read the synopsis to find out if the main character was male or female and why the characters were running from the one person that was repeatedly named as the bad guy.
BUT, once I did get my bearings, I really enjoyed the story. As I said it is full of action, a few nail biting minutes here and there, and a deep, enthralling story line. There is even a little bit of suspense. There is an excerpt of the next book added at the end of the book. I would definitely read the next book in the series. While this book wraps up Aern and Emily's story, it ends in a bit of a cliff hanger.
Just to put this in perspective, I would give this book a 3 out of 4 stars. If I wasn't so lost in the beginning, I would have given this book an easy 4 out of 5. stars.

4,0 von 5 SternenGreat for YA or NA but a fast relaxing read for all if kept this in mind

When I began this book at first I felt as if I had missed a couple of books and started in the middle of a series or at least a novella. I truly had no idea of what was going on. Now this is usually normal for a book but not the way this was for it was jump in with both feet and hit the ground running. And it really never stopped after that. It was a constant race of capture the flag but instead of a flag they were after it was a specific girl. It all wrapped around a prophecy that everyone knew about except the reader. You got to learn about that as you went and want it was and meant.

Funny thing was it did not stop you learning about the characters. Many were surface characters. Some made it to becoming two dimensional but I never felt as if the became fully fleshed out. The book ended quiet surprisingly.

Now, I will admit I found out later that I was reading a YA or NA as some are calling it but ummm I have to say this...but don't they deserve full character development? Or is this an age thing. Either way I am still looking forward to the next book the story is far from over.

I'm torn on this one. The synopsis sounded great, but this book just dives into the world with no back story, no explanations, expecting you to know exactly what's going on. The action & dialog just seemed disjointed to me. It's the first book in a series, but the ending to this one leaves it in a way that you don't need to continue on to the next book. Which I liked as I don't think I'll be continuing on with this series. If there had been some explanations as to why things were they way they were, maybe I'd be more interested.

3,0 von 5 Sternen5 stars I would because I really WANTED to love this book but it just didn't make the grade

If I could give it 3.5 stars I would because I really WANTED to love this book but it just didn't make the grade. I started reading this book because the story summary sounded interesting. Unfortunately though, the book is so poorly written, it was really hard to get totally into this book.

About halfway through, I was going to toss it and give up on trying to understand it but just kept thinking that any minute the story would get better and clearer. But it never really did and I dredged through the whole book.

Having now read a bunch of other reviews of the book (wish I had done that before I started reading this book)), I'm going to agree with many of them as to the numerous questions and ambiguities about this plot and storyline of this book. I'm typically love reading fantasy type books about different worlds, beings and creatures. But this book was so cryptic and confusing about who the characters were, what they were fighting for and what the end game was.

By the end of the book, I was still wondering what the @#$% was going on and what the ending even meant. I did, however, start to like the main characters, Aern and Emily, and was glad they ended up together, whatever that meant. Who knows.

At the end of Bound by Prophecy (which I still don't have clue what it is), there was a sneek peak to Shifting Fate, which apparently is Brianna's story. Brianna seemed like a somewhat interesting character, I may read it. Who knows, maybe I'll finally find out what the heck the prophecy is and who these people are.
