This is the third book I've had reservations on acquiring that didn't pan out like I hoped (the other two being Live Free or Die and Advocate's Betrayal). I stopped reading at the 60% mark since it had effectively turned into a Harlequin romance-type book at this point which is not my kind of read. Prior to this I found it reminiscent of the Jeff Reznick mysteries written by L. L. Bartlett which I enjoyed, the biggest difference being that the protagonist are of different gender yet both possess clairvoyance. Readers should find that the dialogue between characters seems sharply written and that anytime the killer is spying on the younger sister ought give them pause. The description provided mentions nothing about romance, but had I read former reader reviews and learned of the heavier than normal romance angle I would have passed. For that reason I'll have to delve a little deeper into the 4 and 5 star reviews before I buy, but I will rate this better than a one-star read as a result of finding it an ok read up to that point.

I am always amazed at what a fine writer Carol Davis Luce is. I so enjoy the books and have the series. I keep looking for more as I don't want to miss any of them. Great author - characters are well fleshed out, plenty of action and I just love reading them. Thank you.
As a kid, Roberta Paxton had premonitions and was able to see horrible events first hand when her brother drowned. In the beautiful Nevada high country of Sparks, she works at a home for abused women and starts having those disturbing visions again. She is seeing a killer in real time that seems to be getting much closer to home than she can understand at first. A psychiatrist comes to her aid and there is romance mixed with high country adventure and a surprise twist as the killer gets closer to her and her family. This story is a real thriller with romance, adventure, and psychic phenomena all mixed together in a blend that works very well. I really enjoyed this story, one that I highly recommend as a great example of Carol's work. She is an author that you should not miss!
