Another applause for author, J.T. Ellison, in this superb and exciting thriller. With the tensions rising and suspensful moments, this is one book you won't want to miss. Not only is it impossible to put down but it is a must read!............After getting reinstated to her original rank, lieutenant Taylor Jackson, couldn't believe the horrors of her next case, especially on Halloween night. What in the world is happening? As she slowly approached the crime scene, she was once again reminded of the Snow White Killer and his apprentice, The Pretender, who threatened her very core of existence on a daily basis, and most importantly, the one that got away. Like a match made in heaven, Taylor was once again joined by her fiance and love of her life, FBI supervisory agent and profiler, Dr. John Baldwin. The initial shock of the crime scene had worn off the two of them, as they examined the deceased and studied the crude carving in the teenager's chest. It was a pentacle! Did Nashville have a crazed satanist on their hands? And what was the motive? With their worst fears coming back to haunt them, Taylor and Baldwin were called to six more crime scenes totalling seven dead teenagers with the same exact markings carved in their chests. The thought of another serial killer loose in Nashville, terrified Taylor to the bone and with the memory of The Pretender being close by, only made matters worse. Who would want to hurt these kids? Some type of vengeance? Reliving urban legends? The occult? And why in Nashville? One thing was for certain as Taylor and Baldwin continued to probe, there was more than one killer to plan and commit such carnage all in one night, and she couldn't stop what she was doing or take one break, until she and her detectives ended the awful horror. When Taylor is called to another crime scene, the victim is found severely whipped giving them their first big lead and even though the victim remained in a coma, she still feared for their life. Was this victim important to the killer? Were all the others just collateral damage? A distraction? With the suspect list piling up, Taylor was still having a hard time adjusting to the startling new evidence that just landed in her lap or the shocking revelation of who was committing these crimes and why, and as Taylor got closer to the person responsible, she knew without a doubt the nightmare would stay with her for a very long time, maybe even for the rest of her life!.............I really enjoyed this book.....thank you......♡♡

I have run out of adjectives to describe J.T. Ellison's Taylor Jackson series. In this fifth book, eight teens are killed within hours of each other on Halloween; Baldwin is in Quantico facing his own demons (and I clenched every time the book went back there); Fitz is MIA in the Caribbean; and Taylor is surrounded by her exceedingly competent team moving swiftly to solve eight murders. Now add in witchcraft, vampires and wannabes. Again with her usual jet-like pace, Ellison breathes these characters to life -- the wounded, the crazy, the evil and the confused -- then has the Nashville, TN murder/homicide team wrap them all up. The plot and sub-plots and mini-plots smoothly intertwine with each one grabbing me to try and figure it all out. Sometimes I have success. All the elements and chemistry of a great detective novel shine, and I smile deeply.
Detective Taylor Jackson has just been reinstated as lieutenant of her "murder squad ". Her team is back in place, she has her job back, all she wants to do is celebrate. Unfortunately, a murdered teenager calls them back to work. Within a few hours of discovering the first body, seven more are found. All teenagers, who appear to have been drugged and all have the same symbol carved into their abdomen. If that's not bad enough, it's Halloween, a holy night for some, a night to just be crazy for others.
As Taylor and her team begin to gather evidence, it points to a small coven of goth teenagers who worship the God of death. And they have sacrificed in his name. It is quickly learnedly that drugs are also involved. A woman claiming to be a witch shows up in Taylor's office saying she can help the investigation. Taylor has a hard time believing in what she is saying but she needs help, and will take it wherever it comes from.
Taylor's fiancee, John Baldwin, a profiler with the FBI, is called back to Quantico to answer to a review board regarding a case his team worked on several years earlier. It involved a serial murderer, and child molster, who kidnaps very young blonde girls. Questions arise when a former team member, Charlotte, was killed by the understudy of a serial killer from an earlier book, who was called the Snow White killer. As it turns out Charlotte has a connection with Snow White. One no one was aware of. During this investigation, Baldwin and Charlotte have a brief but very intense affair. Charlotte left notes implicating Baldwin in a plan to plant evidence to catch the child molester. The out come of this hearing could cost Baldwin his job, but more important, his lies could cost him his relationship with Taylor.
This story takes place over just a couple of days. It's fast paced and intense. There's a small twist thrown in towards the end. But this was just a well written mystery /thriller. I loved it just like all the rest of the books in the series.
