It comes with a loooot of cringe moments, which you’ll need to overlook. I only wished that the emotional attraction was shown more. It is too much lust-driven and I prefer more emotional connection in my romances. The political subplot is predictable but because it is all very entertaining that simplicity did not bother me. The friendships and the other general relationships were developed fine enough. Those were displayed often which made the world feel a bit fuller. These balanced out the single-minded focus on the romance and add a bit of heart.
Again, the main couple needed more depth than you look hot. The banter and attraction were fun, but I never quite believed in the bond beyond physical attraction.
The book never tries to be overly complex. It knows what it is: fast, spicy, entertaining. I didn’t expect deep intrigue, so I could enjoy the ride for what it was.

I am a bit over the idea that a person can be so distracting that other characters just lose their brains over them but I guess that's what lust gives you. The progression of the relationship was well paced and we didn't just jump headfirst into enemies becoming lovers in the first few chapters but I'm still so pissed at Dacre (seriously, can we have a character list in the review section. I'm so over having to look up how to spell the names) so that might change. We'll see in book two.

I liked the story and was instantly invested. The
characters were likeable, the description of the world and the magic was nicely delivered. You definitely get a slow burn enemies to lovers plot with some steamy chapter❤️🔥. The twist at the end of the story got me clenching my teeth. I'm on for book two.
For the audiobook: the duett narration is really good delivered, I felt the chemistry between the two MCs. the FMC narration was pleasant.
Aaron Shedlock is one of my favourite narrators (Nocticadia) and he delivers the hot book boyfriend vibes so well.
