I found the cat-and-mouse game between Zade and Adeline incredibly exciting and spicy. What I found especially interesting was Adeline’s inner conflict between her growing feelings for Zade and her resistance to his stalking. This gives their relationship another psychological level that really kept me interested. I also liked the flashbacks to Adeline’s great-grandmother’s story. They were a great addition to the main story.
Another reason why this audiobook worked so well for me was the amazing production. I chose the English version because I liked the voices more than the German ones. The narrators for Zade and Adeline were excellent and fit their characters perfectly. Even though English is not my first language, I could follow the story very well. I also really liked the audio effects. They added to the atmosphere and made the listening experience even more intense.
I had been hesitant to start this book for a long time because I expected more horror or fantasy because of the haunted house. In the end, the story was much more realistic than I expected. The background story about human trafficking especially surprised me and gave the story another interesting layer.
I was excited, emotionally involved, and enjoyed every minute of listening. For me, this is clearly an exceptional audiobook experience and, so far, my personal number one among all the Dark Romance audiobooks I have listened to. 🖤❤️

This book is completely different and is more like a thriller/horror with plenty of spice. I don’t judge it in the same way as typical dark romance novels. They’re all fantasy stories, but *Haunting Adeline* is, for me, fantasy in every sense.
I love both characters equally. Their chemistry is undeniable. They’re like two sides of a coin. They fit together perfectly.
There is non-consensual sex, but she is willing when he takes what he wants. I have no problem with that, because as I said, it’s fantasy.
I’ve listened to far worse, more brutal and terrifying audiobooks that I stopped listening to and would never touch again. The audiobook is over 16 hours long. The longest I’ve ever listened to, but every minute is worth it!
There are a total of 4 narrators performing the audiobook, and there’s also a fitting soundscape to go with it.
I’m looking forward to the second book, ‘Hunting Adeline’!
