He wants me to be his queen...
Warned as a girl to keep her kisses to herself, Greer Galloway wants nothing to do with kisses—or love. Twice she's ignored the childhood warning and kissed a man, and both times ended in gutting, miserable heartbreak. Now she's sworn off all romance forever, determined to teach her classes and do her research and live out the rest of her days alone.
I want to be his everything.
But Ash Colchester hasn't sworn off Greer—not at all. Still in love with the girl he once kissed in a circle of broken glass, this soldier-turned-President has never forgotten the taste of her lips or the sound of her whispered, yes, please against his mouth. He's never forgotten the promises he wanted to make her and couldn't, because she was too young for him then, and far too innocent for the things he needs. But he can't wait any longer . . .
But can this modern-day fairy tale have a happily ever after for three people?
Desperate to have her, Ash sends his best friend Embry to bring Greer to him, not knowing they have their own secrets, their own tragedies together. Their own cravings . . .
Soon, Greer finds herself caught between past and present, pleasure and pain—and the two men who long for each other as much as they long for her. And as war and betrayal press ever closer, they tumble headlong into a passionate love affair that will change the world.
From the USA Today bestselling author of Priest and Misadventures of a Curvy Girl comes a contemporary reimagining of the legend of King Arthur, Guinevere, and Lancelot—elegant, carnal, and unforgettable.

“American Queen is a delicious fantasy, a filthy fairytale...rich in texture, intensely emotional, and highly erotic, with a perfect hint of magic.”—Meredith Wild
“$%#I@O^T U*(TUJIVJSKL@#$#(@!)&%($QU(!%U(*$#(%*$(% I think that sums up my thoughts and feelings while reading.”—Colleen Hoover
"Sierra Simone rocked my world again. American Queen is filled with want and need, lust and love, jealousy and generosity. This story is erotic and carnal beyond compare."—Ang Oh, Dirty Laundry Review
The love triangle trope was fascinating and kept me hooked throughout. All three main characters were layered and compelling, and Sierra’s writing style—as always—was flawless and captivating.
That said, I did find the political aspects a bit heavy for my taste, though I knew going in that it would be part of the story. What didn’t fully work for me was the kink dynamic between Greer and Ash. No kink-shaming here, but for the affection and depth of their bond, I would have preferred a different approach to their first time together.
Emery, though, completely stole the show for me, and I can’t wait to dive into the next book from his POV—especially since this one ends on a cliffhanger.
All in all, I still enjoyed Priest more, but this was a solid, engaging read.
Engaging story with top notch narration
