This was a KU book, and the audio was cheap, and since I love historic novels, and enjoy the odd romance, I thought I'd give it a go. I'm eternally sorry that I wasted my money.

The book was rubbish from start to finish. The only historical context is that it is set shortly after the end of the Napoleonic wars (around 1817), and that the fashionable and noble London society have certain rules. The author does disregard these rules if they don't fit her story.

About half of the book is a very explicit description of the seduction and surrender of the female lead by the male lead, in words that are ridiculous.

The other half is made up of an unconvincing murder story, and how the murderer tries to frame the female lead.
I listened to the bitter end, just to confirm 'who dunnit', an inkling of which I had fairly early on.
If this book was clessed as 'erotica', the murder story would still be rubbish, but at least people would know what to expect, and lovers of erotica would get their money's worth.
I imagine, this would make good material for a pornographic film.

However, if you want a historical romance, you go best looking for other authors.

Just how the narrator made it through the whole book is beyond my comprehension.
However, the narration was fine, but I pitied the narrator for having to record such a book.
