Once upon a time, in an alleyway in the slums of the City of Lockes, a young and somewhat lonely boy named Sam Haversford turns a group of teenage douchebags into stone completely by accident.
Of course, this catches the attention of a higher power, and Sam's pulled from the only world he knows to become an apprentice to the king's wizard, Morgan of Shadows.
When Sam's 14, he enters the Dark Woods and returns with Gary, the hornless gay unicorn, and a half-giant named Tiggy, earning the moniker Sam of Wilds.
At 15, Sam learns what love truly is when a new knight arrives at the castle - Knight Ryan Foxheart, the dreamiest dream to have ever been dreamed.
Naturally, it all goes to hell when Ryan dates the reprehensible Prince Justin, Sam can't control his magic, a sexually aggressive dragon kidnaps the prince, and the king sends them on an epic quest to save Ryan's boyfriend, all while Sam falls more in love with someone he can never have.
Or, so he thinks.

Einfach wunderbar
Alles, wirklich alles an dieser Geschichte / diesem Hörbuch hat mir gefallen. Nach fast 20 Stunden Hörfreude bin ich traurig, daß es schon vorbei ist

Fantastic!
Funny, heart-warming story about a quest, swarming with absurd yet loveable characters. There is a lot of hilarious sexual inuendo and swearing. Michael Lesley's reading is a truly outstanding performance.

You'll laugh a lot,
until they hit you with the Angst Train. Capitalized, so it's true.
I was really laughing A LOT through the book, with actually more sex jokes than I usually like. It's hilarious. The characters are all quite endearing (even with all the jokes) and it's actually kind of refreshing to listen to a book that doesn't seem to take itself as serious as well.
That is until the Angst Train catches up and you actually cry your eyes out.
Also the voice actor is AMAZING. He brings the characters to life in any way possible. It brings the book to life.

i burst out laughing multiple times.
if you think a sassy gay unicorn and a fairy-drag-mother are funny i recommend this full heartedly.

Hilarious
just. brilliant.
the story had me in stitches due in no small part to the brilliant narration by Michael Leslie. the voices are so very distinct and the meandering conversations the characters have so sassy and funny.... just pure love.
at the heart there is some fantasy quest and a love story but really it seems to be mainly TJ Klune having fun coming up with the most outrageous characters and the dumbest sex puns.
I don't think I will get over this story too quickly. just loved them all so much!

Sweet molasses!
Extremely funny and creative story. Expect the unexpected. The narrator did an amazing job. Highly recommend.

The strangest love story
This has to be the strangest love story I've ever listened to. Sam is amazing. He won't shut up, makes silly sex puns, stands unwaveringly by his friends' side and thinks about turning people's noses into dicks. As you do.
His best friends, Gary the hornless gay unicorn and Tiggy the half giant, make for great comic relief, but they're also genuinely fond of Sam and will protect him till the end. All the characters in this story are, in fact, clichés of one sort or another, but so cleverly done that you can't help but like them. The bitchy prince. The dashing and immaculate Knight Commander. The old and wise wizard(s). The dark mages. Even the dragon is so ridiculous that it's fun.
To top it all off, the story has loads of pining, a fanclub meeting or five, a wonderfully heartbreaking love, and a good deal of suspense.
Also, the male characters are allowed to have feelings and express them, with and without making it weird. Ah Sam is just so genuine. And oblivious. Sometimes to the point of physical pain.
The narrator does a wonderful job giving voices to everyone. Tiggy, Sam and Gary, Ryan and Justin, Kevin and the king all sound distinct from each other. There are even neighs for the unicorn.
All in all, I definitely recommend listening to this story! Even if there is a fanclub meeting or twenty. Oh, and I'm definitely a Sam-girl.

absolutely awesome
as always, TJ klune didnt let anyone down regarding the story. i loved every single Bit of it, the puns, the Humor, the Drama and everything else too.
i admit that i started the audiobook while beeing a little scared since im not that much into fantasy, but i guess i can put fantasy on my Genre list now. im absolutely in love and i definitly can only recommend this book and author to anyone that likes to read things with strong characters, a well written story and, of course, the best level of Humor, Sex puns.

Gay Disney
In my head this Story was played out in a comic style like these in Disney movies. Very funny and dramatic and there wehre nearly no Character that i didn't like, even the bad guys wehre kinda sweet in there misguided ways (exept that Cult leader).
