This book is a collection of separate essays, rather than one unified work. The essays approach questions about the nature and future of humanity from different angles, with one common theme though: Will human civilization be able to transition peacefully, to a 'low energy' future? Revolving around this question, the author talks about such topics as: believe in technological solutions for peek oil, language as a tool or barrier in human communication0towards a post-carbon future, the 'greatest' generation (and boomers) and their role in consumer society.
