amazing book
amazing start to a great series. i had some difficulty getting into it since it starts out slowly. but once I got past that i listened to the entire series within 3 weeks 😅
the performance of colin mace absolutely great as well!

macht Lust auf mehr
Die Story hat mich schnell gefesselt und es gab kaum Passagen, die langweilig waren. Der Sprecher setzt seine Stimme vielfältig ein und erzeugt eine angenehme Atmosphäre. Lediglich beim hören mit Kopfhörern nervten seine Schluckgeräusche. Alles in allem war es ein sehr gutes Hörbuch, dass auch für Nicht-Muttersprachler leicht verständlich ist

Wonderful from start to end
The reader had so much emotion in the telling it was so easy to get lost in the story. Next book already bought.

Great book
As a big fan of complex and innovative magic systems i've really enjoyed this book Even if listening to the "side"-storylines may seem a bit tedious at first and keeping up with the allover timeline is hard in the beginning you get rewarded by experiencing a wonderful and intelligently written beginning of a promising series that kept even me with over a hundred fantasy book in my shelf thoroughly amazed.

Nice story, very exiting, but with some jumps
I like the concept of children developing from child to non-conventional hero. By that, it is usually very exiting to explore the novel fictional universe.
Peter Brett did that in this story generally in a marvelous way. However at some points (I don't name them to avoid spoilers), I felt a little "cut" in the story after which the plot became a bit less "powerful" for a while. This is why I reduced it to "just" 4stars.
Saying that, I would definitely buy it again and can recommend it.

Great characters
I loved it!!!!! Brett does know how to tell a story and to keep the reader on edge… I would go to sleep and keep thinking about the book! And I listened to it in record time!!! Much better than Jim Butcher, for example, or than the books of the Wheel of time.
I can’t wait to read the rest of the collection!!!

Finally succumbed and i dont regret it.
For months now audible has been recommending this series and I finally decided to try it out. I do not regret it in the least. I would put the demon cycle to a simmilar level of greatness as brandersons stormlight chronicles, high praise from me.
The story takes place over years and we see the charaters grow and struggle, until they start to take on their roles of heroes at the end.

Great Book!
Great audio book! It took me a while to get into it, but then I got hooked by the worldbuilding, the character development and the storyline! 5/5

Die erste Hälfte der Geschichte zieht sich, am Ende wird es okay
Am Anfang musste ich kämpfen dabei zu bleiben, sicherlich die Hälfte des Buchs. Es hat sich einfach viel zu lange gezogen. Wenn nochmal Referenzen zu den Teilen kommen ok. Ansonsten ziemlich viel überflüssiges. Zweite Hälfte war dann ok, aber auch nicht herausragend. Geschickte 3, Sprecher 5…im nix dann gerade noch so eine 4. überlege noch ob ich den zweiten Teil überhaupt kaufe.
