Inhaltsangabe

Monster Hunter International might be the premier monster eradication company in the business, but they've got competition.

When hunters from around the world gather in Las Vegas for a conference, a creature left over from a World War Two weapons experiment wakes up and goes on a rampage across the desert. A not-so-friendly wager between the rival companies turns into a race to see who can bag the mysterious creature first. Only there is far more to this particular case than meets the eye, and as Hunters fall prey to their worst nightmares, Owen Zastava Pitt and the staff of Monster Hunter International have to stop an ancient god from turning Sin City into a literal hell on earth.

Kritikerstimmen

"Oliver Wyman narrates the entire tale with a swagger in his voice. Even the chapter headings sound aggressive. His characters are so unique that at times listeners may think there's a second narrator." (AudioFile)

    "Weakest part of the series"

While listening to this part of the series, I wasn't sure whether I was still listening to a Larry Correia or "Twilight".

While it had some unexpected twists, the main character gets more and more annoying. On the one side he brags about being "the chosen one" on the other hand his actions are contradicting and pretty Self-rightous. The self proclaimed "smart a**" and his concited attitude remind me of how Grant Jefferson was described in the first MHI (or that sparkling Twilight Vampire). He never seems to be really sorry for anbody but himself and his wife and justifies every action as "having no other Choice". Speaking of his wife, the authors desperate attempt to put in some character development is just too cheesy. It's just flat. Twilight-Level.

On the good side, there are the monsters. Nice ideas, not just black & white -thinking and a cool arch-enemy. And I liked meeting so many old characters again.
