Wonderful Werewolf Story

While werewolf stories do follow patterns and tropes just like any other genre or sub-genre, I do enjoy a lot of the recent ones that have come out in the last 20 odd years. They tend to be a-were of the tropes and the best manage to integrate them and reinvent them into something new, this book is one of them.

It has a bit of Circle Of The Werewolf by Stephen King in its Lycanthropic DNA and Wolfmanages to capture the closeness you felt towards the characters that came with the segments in that book albite without vignette format and Stephen King attitudes and trappings.

The character writing is wonderful and captures the setting of a modern secluded New Foundland town nicely.

The main plot continues the aforementioned trend of subversion and manages to bring up questions about the nature of the were and the wolf, the animal and man, the creature, the monster and the person.

I recommend this book to everyone who likes werewolf stories and folks who like creepy critter stories with well written characters in general.

After my last Podium Audiobook I was a bit suspicious about the quality of the material they choose to adapt but this production turned that around. Thank you.
