I have already tried this method out, doing Egyptian Arabic and was totally overwhelmed. It does really work and is fun. However, buying the Pimsleur Course in the original is extremely expensive, as you have to get all the lessons at once. Many people start a language and stop after lesson 20 or something of the sort. Audible.de has split the lessons up into smaller portions that can be downloaded and paid for separately. You may opt to only do, for instance, the first five, or the next five lessons etc. That way you can try a language out, see if you get along, slowly climbing above the beginner's level. Giving it up at no great financial loss, or going on, as you like it. You just pay the lessons you do and do not have to pay for lessons that will stay in the rack unused till the end of time. I already did the first Russian lessons. It is even easier than Egyptian -- and more fun. Big recommendation. Just one warning: Don't use Opera to download the audiobook. This browser simply does not work in the Audible system. Cheers!
